Foundation for Second Chances is a

California approved Provider of Supplemental Educational Services

under the provisions of the"No Child Left Behind Act."

 

Foundation for Second Chances' Supplemental Educational Services (S.E.S.) program has partnered with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to provide quality tutoring and project-based learning in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Eligible families attend Program Improvement schools (Year 2-and beyond) which are required by No Child Left Behind to offer expanded learning options for students.

 

Instruction is provided outside of the regular school day (typically during the hours of 2:30pm -8:00pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday) by credentialed teachers and tutors. Each student receives twenty-five to twenty seven hours of tutoring assistance in small group and individual tutoring setting.

 

Our program employs Scantron and Houghton Mifflin curricula and focuses on English Language Arts and Mathematics concepts in which students have a demonstrated need based on individual program assessment, STAR testing results, and teacher assessments. Authorized by the California Department of Education as a SES provider since 2007, FFSC has built a strong record of achievement.

FFSC Convenience

FFSC schedules tutoring at times convenient to parents - morning, afternoon, evening, and weekends - in the convenience of your own home and local library.

FFSC offers highly effective one-on-one and small group tutorial instruction. Based on an overwhelming amount of educational research, one-on-one, student to tutor instruction is highly successful in improving a student's academic standing due to personalize attention. It is this combination of individualized attention and secure learning environment that will enable your child to quickly get back on the academic track and reach his or her full potential.

 

FFSC Tutors

The FFSC tutoring team is comprise of highly educated instructors who cultivate academic minds through the power of one-on-one interaction with the students. Our tutor assist student to become confident and motivated by allowing students to learn at their own pace and ensuring that they master fundamentals and basic concepts. FFSC tutors are state certified teachers, degreed professionals and paraprofessional and college students (with at least 60 units) with a passion for teaching. A vast majority of our tutors teach or have taught in public or private schools. Instruction is truly individualized - one-on-one, or in a small group setting (1 tutor to 5 students). It is a priority of FFSC tutors to meet regularly with parents to review their child's progress and discuss changing child needs.

FFSC uses state approved learning materials and assessment tools to understand your child's academic needs and develop an individualized learning plan that will focus on the needs of your child. FFSC understands that every child has a unique learning style, individual strengths and areas to improve, therefore FFSC emphasis customizing the strategies to help your child overcome obstacles and meet his/her academic goals.
